Products

Ruukki sawmills focus on the processing of coniferous wood, especially pine and spruce, into various types of sawn goods. The Group aims at combining the customers’ needs with the possibilities of the raw material available. The products can be categorised as follows:

(i) Sawn timber

Ruukki produces unseasoned, shipping dry and extra dry sawn timber from pine and spruce, according to the customers’ requirements. A considerable part of the sawn timber production is customised to special dimensions but the product portfolio also includes standard dimensions. The Oulainen sawmill is specialised in processing small diameter logs. Quality is especially emphasised in the sawn timber production.

Planed products

The sawmills’ product portfolio includes various planed all round products that are made of pine or spruce. Also the round-planed products are delivered in standard dimensions as well as according to the customer’s choice of width and thickness. For the planed products the Group utilises wood interior which is stronger and more durable than the wood exterior.

Treated sawn timber

Ruukki’s sawmills offer sawn timber that is treated according to the customers’ needs. Sawn timber is available ready surface-treated, waxed, lacquered, impregnated, finger-jointed as well as primer or surface painted.

The annual sawn timber and processed products production capacity of the Group’s sawmills is altogether about 300,000 cubic meters. The share of processed products is about fourth of the total production; however, the share varies according to the market conditions and wood type. The Group’s sawmills use the northern slow-growing coniferous wood as raw material which is especially suited for construction industry’s demands for its properties.
